Job Description
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining and processing accurate accounting records for hotel management company; provides financial, administrative and clerical support by ensuring payments are completed and expenses are controlled by receiving payments, processing, verifying; and reconciling invoices according to established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner
Essential Job Functions:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage Accounts Payable process for a portfolio of properties
- Prepare, review and execute weekly check runs
- Assist in month end closing for portfolio of properties
- Review relevant accounting mail
- Work with appropriate colleagues to manage processing of Capital Invoices
- Respond to all internal and external inquiries
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practic
Necessary Skills and Attributes:
- Excellent verbal, comprehension, listening, and problem-solving skills
- Detail oriented
- Well organized
- Relevant Accounting experience and skills
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of general ledger systems, financial chart of accounts, and corporate procedures
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
Qualifications and Skills:
- 2+ years of experience in an accounting/finance environment
- Hospitality experience and/or real estate background is a plus
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel knowledge required
